Our Focus

The mission of the Greenville Choral Society is to foster excellence in the art of choral singing and to provide music education, cultural enrichment and entertainment for its members and the community. Since its inception in 1969 as the Greenville Community Chorus, The Greenville Choral Society today has expanded in scope, encompassing as many as five choral ensembles. Although each has its own particular focus, all are dedicated to pursuing excellence in choral singing and providing music education and cultural enrichment for its members and the community at large. Our organization of more than 100 adults, youth and children gives talented singers the opportunity to collaborate and create meaningful musical art for the enjoyment of citizens in Pitt County and beyond.
GCS Concert Choir

The Concert Choir performs two to six concerts per season, often with the New Carolina Sinfonia, the Greenville Choral Society’s resident orchestra. The ensemble’s repertoire is drawn from a variety of works throughout the choral literature, from sacred to secular, but focuses on extended works and oratorios. Through the concert choir, adult singers refine their choral singing skills rooted in musical artistry.

GCS Youth Chorale

The Youth Chorale provides an opportunity for area youth in 9th through 12th grade to study and perform choral music literature not normally found in school or church. They are an auditioned mixed ensemble made up of area high school students that sings two formal concerts a year in conjunction with the Greenville Children’s Chorus and Bella Voce. There are opportunities to sing at area events, to make new friends, to interact with current Music Majors at ECU, and there’s even a scholarship opportunity for students that plan to major in Music in college!

GCS Childrens’ Chorus

The Children’s Chorus serves as an advanced chorus for children in 4th through 8th grades. The chorus sings quality choral literature with an emphasis on beauty of tone and musicianship. We aim to provide a musical opportunity that schools and churches often cannot provide. The Children’s Chorus serves as an advanced chorus for children in 4th through 8th grades.
